Murat Köksalan is a professor
in the Industrial Engineering Department of Middle East
Technical University.
He holds a Ph. D. degree from the Industrial Engineering Department at the State
University of New York at Buffalo where he also worked as a visiting assistant professor during
1983-'84 academic year. He spent the 1990-'91 academic year,
January 1995 to July 1996, and August 2000-August 2002 as a visiting professor
at the Krannert School of Management, Purdue University. He was a visiting professor at the Helsinki
University of Technology during the summer of 2006.
He frequently visits the Helsinki School of Economics to teach in the International MBA Program
and to give talks. He spent September
2009-June 2011 as a visiting professor at the Aalto
University. He served as an editorial board member of the
Transactions
of Operational Research/Yöneylem Araştırması
Dergisi
1993-2004. He has served as a member of
the International Executive Committee and the chairman of the Awards Committee
of the International Society on Multiple Criteria Decision
Making. His
research interests include multiple criteria decision making, production
management applications, simulation, and modern heuristic techniques. He was
the chairman of the 15th International Conference on Multiple Criteria
Decision Making
which took place in
The MCDM Gold Medal, the
highest honor given by the International Society on MCDM; the young
investigator award of the Turkish Scientific and Technological Research
Council; and the first prizes in the INFORMS case competitions in 2002, 2006,
and 2007 are among the awards he has received.
