METU IE Department has its own wireless access service called AWLP developed by Alptekin Çakırcalı in addition to the service provided by METU Computer Center. The Department's service is encrypted with a WEP key, therefore all communications through the access points are secure. Students who want to use this service to access the computer laboratory resources should register their devices (laptop computers and cellular phones that run WiFi) with Bahar Acu or Tarık Dinç.
